DESCRIPTION
00:00:00 – 00:04:52

The first encounter with Carlo Quartucci and Carla Tatò.

Preliminary introductions.

D.O. Donatella Orecchia asks Ivano Cipriani to recall his first encounter with Carlo Quartucci and Carla Tatò.

I.C. Ivano Cipriani begins by reconstructing an encounter mediated through television, which preceded meeting them in person. As a television critic for “Paese Sera”, he became acquainted with the work of Carlo Quartucci and Carla Tatò through the experiences of Camion and, in particular, Borgatacamion. He recalls being deeply impressed by the originality and innovative character of these artistic practices, which he perceived as a significant novelty within the cultural landscape of the time.

00:04:53 – 00:07:25

Memories of Genazzano Project and Ivano Cipriani’s role.

D.O. Donatella Orecchia asks what memories he retains of Genazzano Project.

I.C. Ivano Cipriani immediately associates the experience with Castello Colonna, the central venue for the activities promoted by Carlo Quartucci and Carla Tatò

C.T. Carla Tatò intervenes to stimulate the witness’s memory, recalling several spaces within Castello Colonna and the role he played in the Teatroteca.

I.C. He clarifies that he did not reside permanently in Genazzano during the years of the project. His presence was primarily connected with specific organizational and professional responsibilities. He served as head of the press office, overseeing the project’s communication and promotional activities.

00:07:26 – 00:11:32

Communication work and the international dimension of Genazzano Project.

D.O. Donatella Orecchia asks whether, in addition to his communication work, he also attended the performances and artistic actions as a spectator.

I.C. The witness explains that his work took place mainly behind the scenes. Occupied with organization and promotion, he rarely had the opportunity to watch the performances themselves.

C.T. Carla Tatò recalls Ivano Cipriani’s contribution to the international dissemination of Genazzano Project, particularly through his relationships with artists and cultural circles in Berlin.

D.O. She asks whether he continued his journalistic work for “Paese Sera” during the same period.

I.C. He confirms that he carried out both activities simultaneously.

C.T. Carla Tatò returns to Cipriani’s communication work at the European level, emphasizing its importance for the project’s international circulation.

00:11:33 – 00:13:14

The professional relationship with Carlo Quartucci.

D.O. Donatella Orecchia asks how he experienced his collaboration with Carlo Quartucci.

I.C. Ivano Cipriani expresses a highly positive assessment, recalling the director’s intelligence, generosity, and affability. He emphasizes that their professional relationship was characterized by a clear division of responsibilities and by mutual respect for each other’s expertise.

00:13:15 – 00:19:22

From professional collaboration to friendship.

D.O. Donatella Orecchia asks about the relationship between Genazzano Project and the broader world of journalism and cultural criticism at the time. She also asks whether there were opportunities to exchange ideas with fellow journalists and critics.

I.C. Ivano Cipriani recalls that such opportunities were limited and that his involvement remained primarily connected to his work alongside Quartucci and Tatò.

D.O. She asks what feelings he now associates with the memory of Carlo Quartucci.

I.C. The witness explains that what had initially been a professional relationship gradually developed into a personal friendship.

C.T. Carla Tatò responds with emotion, remembering Ivano Cipriani as a highly professional collaborator and a treasured friend throughout their long shared journey.

00:19:23 – 00:24:44

Carla Tatò remembers Ivano Cipriani.

D.O. Donatella Orecchia asks Carla Tatò to recall her first meeting with Ivano Cipriani.

C.T. She evokes an earlier connection, explaining that Cipriani had already known her father and was part of the journalistic and cultural circles associated with the Italian left. She also recalls the years they both worked at RAI and reconstructs the role he played in Genazzano as head of the Teatroteca, director of the press office, and coordinator of several organizational aspects of the project.
